How do you make money? =/
I know it's a dumb question to ask and people might do not want to tell how they make money to others, but I am really having a hard time making money over Guild Wars.
Hello.. I am new to guild wars, well... Not really, i bought the game like 7 months ago, played for 2 months or so, then had to stop for college. Back then, i had a monk, used to solo farm as a 55 monk, kill ice imps or anything else i could to make money, it was fun back then, but now after the loot scalling thing, i am just wasting my time while trying to make money, i used to be able to make 10k a run around 30 mins, which was pretty good, but now i can't even hit 2k. I tried doing it hard mode, but took forever to kill a group of mobs if i didn't end up dead. So people told me to go FoW or UW. i felt pretty lucky because i have a Tank, Monk, Necromancer and Ranger, they all work good there. But! 1 run = more than 1 hour or even two. and i get 2 shards max.. or 1 ecto if i am trapping UW with my ranger. Some told me, buy low sell high, i am not good at that, i want to play not stand in some outpost spamming WTB/WTS. I want to go, kill, have fun.. I am totally lost now, i have like 3k and no idea what to do. I know there's already a post somewhere here, but almost all the replies that they already have enough gold or some areas/stuff i don't know yet. Thanks in advance. |

Get some friends together, and Vanquish zones on Hard Mode. Also, open as many of the Locked Chests as you can, that should get a bit of cash.

You're not going to make 10k a run anywhere these days, some people might argue you should NEVER have been able to make that much that fast(me, I don't care, but hey, anyone who thought THAT would be around forever was delusional from the start). However, it's not hard to make 1.5-2k a run in places. A VwK rit can farm in a ton of places, and can make a lot of cash doing it. Since I don't wanna be redundant I'm not gonna repost the full build and farmable areas here, but if you check in the "how have you been making $$$ to buy the things you need" thread you'll find it all there. Now, I don't have a 55 so I can't respond as well with them, but I'm sure there's just as many places they can go...in fact, I bet a lot of the same places work for them as for my rit.

Was easier until a couple days ago. I don't know what happened, but I'm back to getting 50% purples from locked chests.
Locked Chest drops (especially tomes) have been what has been keeping my head above the water. Without the tomes, I'm playing a losing game. |

If you have an ele there are 101 farming places you can try.
For example, titan quests, ice imps, minos, mergoyles, kirin, torment creatures All in HM of course. This is the age of the earth ele, the 55hp monk has been replaced! |

If you have Nightfall, the keyless treasures can provide decent temporary funds and some golds.
If you can find a boss that's easily farmable and get Elite tomes, you can find buyers for 10k easily Oddly enough, alot of my money these days comes from scrolls that drop while farming. 125g and 400g each when sold to the merchant adds up over time. |

The fact is that if you aren't in Hard Mode you're not going to make any money. Once you get into HM you gotta work you're butt off to get back to the same level as you were before. *le sigh* The only tip I have for you is to invest in the best equipment available. I'm a poor gal trying to make it in NM(I'm close to finishing all 3 games but not quite there yet) but I'm able to concentrate on playing rather than grinding to create wealth because I've invested alot of time in getting good equipment.

well if you had gotten game before 10/31/06 you'd be rolling in money easy.
but i cant help you now, because i havent played in like 6 months, and everything is WAY different. tomes? lockpicks? wtf? (yes, i had to mention 10/31 just to remind all the old players how gay the game was for those months [still is?]) |

It's not a booming business, but I pick up everything and ask for everyones drops they don't really want/need then salvage everything then sell off the materials when they reach 250.
If I put my mind to it I can make quite a bit in time. |

Forget all the stuff everyone else has said... there is one simple, easy way to earn money in GW:
Don't try. Don't farm (few are good at it), don't get new armors, don't chest run (not like you can anymore), don't buy anything except an ID kit now and then for white merchant fodder. Just play the game as usual and the money will practically roll in. |

There is no chance to get really rich now, you'd have to be it before the nerf..

I farm with my Ele in Normal mode Gates of Kryta behind the house. It's very easy, and in about 15 minutes you can make an easy 800g-1.2k. and then there's the occasional gold, and I got a black dye there just the other night

The bad news is that you can't make 10k per hour any more.
The good news is that you don't really need to. Everything has dropped in value, by at least half. Ectos, perfects, rares, everything. So your gold goes a lot farther than it used to. One suggestion that I just learned about after two years gaming. Identify everything before you sell it, even non-magical stuff. I used to only id magic items, but someone posted here that the value of non-magic stuff goes up by more than the cost to id it, sometimes significantly more. Doh, wish I had known that a couple years ago... |
